For those of you who may not know my parents, Brian and Suzy, started Treasure Goldens over twenty years ago.

Both Mom and Dad grew up with an assortment of childhood pets but it wasn’t until they got married that the first dog they owned together was a Golden Retriever they affectionately named Trevor.

Trevor sold them on Golden Retrievers as they got to first hand experience his loyalty, affection, and gentleness.

He was my Mom’s perfect companion while my Dad worked third shift. And two years later he made the most amazing playmate for me!

The next ten years we moved around and we weren’t able to have family pets. But when my parents settled back in Ohio and were looking not only to add a companion to the family but also provide a way for us kids to learn both respect and responsibility there really was no question about it…we needed to find a Golden Retriever!

So initially my parents brought two Golden Retriever puppies into our thrilled family and thus Treasure Goldens was born.

Over the last twenty plus years our whole family has learned and grown so much in this journey. But one thing has remained constant; our admiration and love for this incredible breed, the Golden Retriever!

TG Family Update

Hey Everyone,

Sorry we’ve been a bit MIA. I thought it was time I gave you all an update.

The last year Stephen and I have been general contracting our first home! It was so exciting and immensely rewarding but also a lot of hard work!

Because of how much energy and time was required to build our home, we decided to pace ourselves with the puppies.

However, now that our home is finished *cue falling confetti and fireworks* we are ready to jump back into adding more of these beautiful loving Golden Retrievers to the Treasure Golden family (more on this to come)!

But for now, since it’s been a hot minute and we have lots of new followers, I’d love to hear from you! So be on the look out for some “get to know you” posts!

Exciting Updates: Milestones, Home Building, and Puppies Coming Soon!

Happy Friday, Everyone!

I wanted to share some updates with you!

First, we’ve hit an amazing milestone: 500 followers on Instagram! Thank you so much to everyone who’s been following along as we continue to learn, grow, and love these incredible English Golden Retrievers!

Second, you may have noticed that our posts have become less frequent and that we haven’t had puppies for a while. That’s because we (Amber, Stephen, and James) are currently general contracting our first home! Building a home takes a lot of time and energy, and raising puppies requires just as much dedication.

So for now, we’re taking a break from having puppies to focus on this big project. Once our home is complete, we’ll shift our time and energy back to raising and loving our beautiful puppies.

We’re anticipating having puppies available later this Spring/Summer. If you’d like more information or want to reserve a spot on our waiting list, feel free to reach out!

Golden Anniversary

Happy 3rd anniversary to us!!! If you’re new here let me take a moment and introduce us! We’re Stephen and Amber Mansfield. My (Amber) parents, Brian and Suzy Stutz, started Treasure Goldens a little over 20 years ago. I was 10-years-old when we started TG, I’ll let you do the math and figure out how old I am now. It was the best childhood ever, growing up in the Ohio countryside, loving our dogs and puppies, and meeting so many amazing people! In my early 20s I worked in children residential homes during the school year and traveled the world during my summers. Working with children in residential placement showed me how I could combine my two passions of dogs/puppies and helping people. So I went to college and while there met my now husband Stephen. During Covid my parents moved to sunny South Carolina. Just last year my husband and I moved next to my parents and I was finally able to be back helping my parents and once again loving on our incredible dogs and puppies!

Our First Golden Moment: How Trevor the Golden Retriever Sparked a Lifelong Love

My GOLDEN moment came at a very young age. When my parents got married, they were gifted a golden retriever puppy. (Note: I would never recommend giving someone a puppy as a wedding gift. Adopting a puppy is a huge commitment that should never be gifted on anyone unless it has previously been well thought out and prepared for). However, it worked out great for my parents! Trevor, was the first golden retriever either of them had ever owned, and he quickly became their first baby! My Dad worked third shift at the time so Trevor would sleep in bed with Mom while Dad was at work. Mom used to laugh and say he was no guard dog though, because he would show a thief the good silver as long as the thief petted him. When I was born two years later, Trevor was the perfect companion for me. He quickly became one of my best friends and playmates! Sometimes, Mom would have to rescue Trevor from me as I used his ears as my teething toy! Or explored his big wet, black nose! Poor Trevor would just sit there and let me pull on him! Trevor was our GOLDEN moment! Trevor was when we fell in love with golden retrievers! Trevor was when we realized what incredible loving, loyal, family dogs golden retrievers are and there’s been no going back since! I would love to hear about your GOLDEN moment!

Understanding the “Runt” of the Litter: Insights into English Cream Golden Retrievers

Is there such a thing as the “runt” of a litter? Technically, by definition, the runt of a litter is the smallest weakest puppy. Born in the wild, this puppy would have a hard chance of surviving as it competed with its stronger brothers and sisters for nutrients. However, most often this is not the case today with domesticated breeds that receive love, attention, and care from their owners! Just because a puppy is born smaller than the rest does not mean it is weak or unhealthy. When breeding, dogs have a window of time for conception. Therefore in a healthy litter, some puppies may have been conceived on the first day of breeding and others may have been conceived three days later. Most often today’s runts are smaller simply because they are developmentally a few days behind their brother and sisters. But they are vigorous and healthy, just a bit smaller. And given the extra care and attention they receive, they quickly catch up to hold their own with their brothers and sisters. Celebrating New Beginnings: Welcoming Litters from Our Beloved Canine Families

This winter and spring, we were blessed with three litters from our three new mommas: Eva, Crystal, and Pearl. Eva and Crystal are our sweet babies that we raised ourselves. Their Daddy is Jasper and their Momma is Jewell. Just as we expected, both girls proved to be excellent attentive mommas. Look for more upcoming posts and pictures of Eva and Crystal in the near future.

Pearl, who recently joined our family from Europe, has settled in well and is also showing to be an exceptional mother. This season marked the debut of our beautiful and sweet Taz as a father, and he did not disappoint. His puppies are just as beautiful and sweet as we expected.

Looking ahead to this summer, Eva and Ruby are expecting litters fathered by Taz. These adorable babies will go quickly, so reserve your summer sweetheart now!
